Toffy is an American illustrator living in Sapphire, North Carolina with their husband and cat. Born in 1992 as Codie Kathleen, they are originally from southern Appalachia. Their biggest inspirations include the mossy mountain trails of northern Georgia and the Appalachian mountains, sciences of the natural world, and psychedelic aesthetics.
Although their strong-suit is digital illustration, Toffy also has experience in acrylic and watercolor painting, charcoal, printmaking, etching, and ceramics. Toffy is a self-taught and experimental digital painter, with their fine arts skills being classically trained at Young Harris College. They have studied under prominent folk artists such as Ted Whisenhunt and Duncan Baird, as well as digital media artist and filmmaker Jeremy Waltman. Their artistic influences include Hayao Miyazaki, Osamu Tezuka, Breatrix Potter, Vincent van Gogh, and other artists ranging from classical to modern pop.. These artists have shaped her into an illustrator with an individual style that reflects attributes from all of them. Toffy loves to portray fantastical creatures and colorful worlds. They are passionate about the imagination and seeks to re-imagine the world through different self-expressed identities. |
